The Elephant is Contagious - Poetry Film

The Elephant is Contagious is an original work by Irish poet, Eabha Rose. It tells the tale of a territorial battle between two love rivals at a polite and outwardly formal gathering.

Eabha herself appears in the film, which was shot in The Library Bar of the famous Lillie’s Bordello nightclub in Dublin, Ireland on 9th April 2014.

The poem was recorded at Avenue 33 studios in Rathgar, Dublin.

Eabha Rose lives in Dublin, Ireland. She writes for Plum Tree Books and O Ecuador das Coisas. Eabha’s work has been published both online and in print. She enjoys performing her work publicly and has read at various literary festivals in Ireland and the UK.

The Elephant is Contagious is a poem about the theatrical masks people wear in order to keep up appearances and how cutthroat this world of pretence can be. It’s a journey through subtle side-glances, restrained anger and deviousness to a discreetly executed act of revenge. The story takes place at a drinks party.
